I work with airplane software development every day at work, but I rarely think about that one very obvious aspect of what we all know that planes do: move through the air. It's not always a pertinent factor in what we're doing. Moving through the air is not really a consideration when you're thinking about how to control the flashing (or not flashing) external lights while on the tarmac.
But that would be a nice, centering thought, eh? You—yes, you!—that boring piece of software you're developing will fly through the air as if by magic. It's easy to forget when your head is down in the day to day work—to miss the forest for the trees, etc.
